The Caya® diaphragm is a mechanical barrier contraceptive. It is one of the barrier methods and covers the cervix. It is always used in combination with a diaphragm gel. It protects against unwanted pregnancy by preventing sperm from entering the uterus.

The Caya® Diaphragm is inserted before sexual intercourse. Before insertion, fold the Caya® at the side grip dimples. Place approx. 4 ml (approx. one teaspoon) of diaphragm gel (Caya® Gel) into the resulting membrane recesses.
Small amounts of the gel are spread around the rim. Coating the rim makes insertion into the vagina easier.
Hold the Caya® Diaphragm with one hand. When inserting, the arrow should point towards the body.
The Caya® is pushed up to the posterior vaginal fornix and, using the recessed grip, up to the pubic bone.
The Caya® is correctly positioned when the cervix is completely covered by the membrane of the Caya® diaphragm and lies between the posterior vaginal fornix and the pubic bone.
The cervix should be felt through the silicone membrane of the Caya® diaphragm (it feels like the tip of a nose). If this is not the case, the diaphragm must be removed and reinserted.
After sexual intercourse, the Caya® diaphragm must remain in the vagina for at least 6 hours.
It is then removed from the vagina by using the removal dome.
After each use, the Caya® Diaphragm should be rinsed with soap and water and dried with a soft, dry cloth.
To protect it from external factors, the Caya® should always be stored in the case provided.
Important: The Caya® Diaphragm should never be left in the vagina for longer than 24 hours, as prolonged, uninterrupted use can encourage the growth of bacteria in the vagina. These bacteria could then lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
The principle of action is the same for the Caya® Diaphragm and the Singa® Diaphragm: both cover the cervix and, together with the diaphragm gel, act as a barrier to prevent sperm from entering the uterus. They therefore provide protection against unwanted pregnancy.
The differences lie in the shape and sizing. The Caya® Diaphragm is designed as a one-size-fits-most product and can be used without individual fitting. It is suitable for the vast majority of women, as it fits 93% of all women.
For the remaining women, the Singa® Diaphragm offers an alternative in various sizes. The correct size must be measured and fitted by a doctor or midwife before first use.
Important information
Always use your diaphragm together with a diaphragm gel. Check before every sexual intercourse that the cervix is completely covered. The diaphragm protects against unwanted pregnancy, but not against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
