Brief explanation
The diaphragm is a hormone-free contraceptive. It works regardless of your cycle and the timing of ovulation. When used correctly, the contraceptive effect of the diaphragm does not depend on whether your cycle is regular or irregular.
An irregular cycle is a common occurrence for many women, for example during periods of stress, whilst breastfeeding, after stopping the contraceptive pill, when working shifts, or even without any clearly identifiable cause. This can make choosing a suitable method of contraception more difficult.
